Parker Brothers Formula One

Three players would show up for the game night and go - "The Distance"

"Reluctantly crouched at the starting line,
Engines pumping and thumping in time.
The green light flashes, the flags go up.
Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup."

The game night started with Formula One Parker Brothers edition.  Random car draw put Jon Mark in the Blue bomber, Ted in the Red Rocket and Ken in the "Nothing Rhymes with Orange" car.  Beer bottles were popped open and the game began.

"They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank,
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank.
Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns.
Their prowess is potent and secretly stearn.
As they speed through the finish, the flags go down."

We ran a 5 lap race and this is where the game really shines.  Tactics cards and pit stops all came into play.  Jon Mark couldn't move without burning tire rubber.  Ken pulled out to lead the pack in the late race but a die roll squelched his run for first.

"The fans get up and they get out of town.
The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can."

At the finish line we have Ted 1st place with 10 points, Jon Mark second with 6 and Ken in Third with 4 points.

Prior to this evening's race:
Ken - 31
Terry - 26
Jon Mark- 16
Ted -14
Bill - 5
John C - 5
Carl - 3
Greg - 3

We see a progression into the next segment of:

Terry - 26
Ted -24
Jon Mark- 22
Bill - 5
John C - 5
Carl - 3
Greg - 3

  1. I remember this game from teenage years! As I recall, the 'Superb Driving' card was the one to keep you out of trouble, and steal a march at the same time. You could really plant boot with that in your hand! For the rest, I took the middle road between conservative and reckless driving into the corners, which approach seemed to reap dividends in the long run. Great game!

  2. Any chance of getting some quick info at Recruits on how to craft my own 5mm VSF walkers, land and airships? Or better yet a tutorial here? Thanks!

  3. Brigadier,
Introduce yourself at the convention. I would love to share some of my ideas. I will be running DBA big battle with homemade armies Friday night.
